Welcome to Ranked Bedwars
Welcome to Ranked Bedwars! Please review the following rules to ensure a positive and respectful experience for everyone.
Role Expectations
All staff members are expected to act reasonably professionally and be open to feedback.
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Owner | Owners oversee all server operations and manage the staff team. They have the final say on disputes, abuse reports, appeals, etc. They also handle sensitive or unresolved escalated issues. |
| Developer | Developers build and maintain the technical infrastructure behind Ranked Bedwars. A technical writeup can be found here (link soon). |
| Admin | Admins maintain organizational server infrastructure and direction. They organize events and ensure smooth server/staff team operation. They also assist with moderation when needed. |
| Senior Moderators | Senior Moderators manage the support team, handle complex tickets and appeals, and oversee policy enforcement. They are the point of contact for rule clarification or if you believe a support member acted unfairly. |
| Moderators / Helpers | Moderators and Helpers assist with tickets, answer questions about the server, assist with appeals, and handle most rule violations. |
Chat & Voice Rules
These rules apply to all public Discord and Minecraft channels. These rules also apply to Discord voice chats and, in some cases, direct messages involving server members.
Zero Tolerance for Discrimination
- Absolutely no racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, or other forms
of hate speech.
- This includes the use of hate symbols and the denial of historical mass atrocities.
- We define hate speech to include any expression that degrades, vilifies, or dehumanizes individuals, incites intense feelings of hostility towards defined groups, or promotes harm based on protected characteristics. These characteristics may include but are not limited to age, caste, color, disability, ethnicity, family responsibilities, gender, gender identity, housing status, national origin, race, refugee or immigration status, religious affiliation, serious illness, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class and status, source of income, status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual violence, or stalking, as well as weight and size.
- This includes direct slurs, coded slurs, disguised language (e.g., leetspeak or numerical substitutions) and inappropriate emojis, profile pictures, bios, and Discord statuses.
- Users who attempt to bypass filters (e.g. by sending slurs inside an image/video) will still be punished.
- We recognize that context matters. Limited exceptions may be made for the use of clearly educational or documentary content, or unmistakable satire, provided the intent is plainly evident and non-malicious.
- Plausible deniability (e.g., "it was a joke") is not a valid defense; users cannot retroactively claim ironic or humorous intent to excuse discriminatory behavior.
- Reclaimed slurs and similar terms are not permitted on this server, even if used by members of the affected group.
Avoid Inflammatory Topics
- Political, religious, or ideologically charged discussions are prohibited.
- This includes inflammatory jokes, debates, hot takes, or baiting others into arguments.
This is a competitive Minecraft community, and all discussions should be mostly focused on Minecraft or gaming-related topics. While casual conversation is fine, this server is not a place to debate real-world issues or provoke conflict through controversial subjects.
This rule exists to maintain a neutral, inclusive space and avoid unnecessary conflict.
No Harassment or Threats
- Includes direct harassment, stalking, manipulation, targeted bullying, or threats of violence.
- Depending on the severity of the threat, the associated punishment can range from a high level mute to a permanent blacklist.
- Plausible deniability will not be accepted.
- Harassment/threats in direct messages may be punished on a case-by-case basis.
Keep Chats Clean
- No spam (excessive repeated sending of text, images, GIFs, emojis, or commands).
- No NSFW or shock content, even as "a joke."
- No links that redirect to malware, IP grabbers, scams, or suspicious sites.
- Inappropriate usernames or profile pictures will be flagged and must be changed immediately. Until the content is corrected, Staff may apply temporary punishments or even permanent blacklists as necessary to maintain community standards.
Use Voice Responsibly
- No mic spam; i.e. excessive noise, soundboard usage, yelling, or disruptive behavior.
No Self-Promotion
- Do not advertise Discord servers, Twitch streams, YouTube videos, or anything else unless given permission by staff.
- Self-promotion may include but is not limited to sending links in public chats or direct messages unsolicited.
Do Not Circumvent Mutes
- Resorting to other means of communication to continue to break chat and voice rules after being muted will result in harsher punishments.
Discord Rules
Safety and Compliance
- Follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
- All users must be 13+ and meet the legal age for digital use in their country.
Server Rules
- Don't abuse permissions, authority, or tools granted to you.
- Do not impersonate anyone on or associated with the staff team in or outside of the community.
- Do not attempt to bait users into breaking the rules.
- Exploiting rule wording or looking for technicalities will not protect you. Staff judgment overrides loopholes and missing rule elaborations.
- If you find a loophole or missing rule, open a support ticket to have it fixed.
Gameplay Rules
- Abusing glitches or unintended game mechanics that give you an unfair advantage or allow you to bypass seasonal rules.
- Queue dodging — Leaving the game after you are queued but before the game starts.
- Being AFK long enough to get disconnected from the server or disconnecting for an extended period.
- Sabotaging your team by purposefully causing them to lose. This includes threatening to do so.
- Cheating (the use of any external tool that provides an unfair advantage)
— Includes autoclickers, macros, ghost clients, hacked clients, and other unfair
advantages. If you have any questions about what counts as "cheating," please open a support ticket.
- Attempting to SS evade, leave mid-screenshare, or interfere with a screenshare in any way will result in an automatic cheating ban.
- If you lost to a player in a ranked game and they got banned for cheating, you will automatically get refunded any RR that you lost. Do not open a support ticket for this as staff do not have the ability to modify your rating.
- Rank manipulation by participating in boosting, win trading, or intentional deranking to try and boost yours or another's rating.
All of the behaviors listed above are not allowed and apply to all games played on the Ranked Bedwars server.
Infraction & Punishment System
The punishment system used for rule infractions. We utilize a warning and tiered punishment system where penalties scale based on the severity of the infraction and the user's previous offenses. All gameplay and communication restriction durations are automatic and staff members do not have the ability to override them. They can only specify the severity of the infraction. Punishments during ranked games are typically treated as more severe. Gameplay and communication restrictions scale separately.
- Low Severity Infractions — Typically result in warnings for a first offense, escalating to restrictions for repeat violations.
- Medium Severity Infractions — Carry heavier initial punishments, such as rating deductions or queue bans, which compound with prior history.
- High Severity Infractions — Severe violations that bypass warnings, leading directly to extended queue or communication restrictions.
Staff Conduct
All Staff members are expected to:
- Follow all server rules
- Remain neutral and respectful in all interactions
- Avoid favoritism, power abuse, or retaliation
- Refrain from provoking or reacting to being provoked by members
Screenshare Expectations
Screenshare Eligibility
A screenshare (SS) may only be requested during official tournaments held by the Ranked Bedwars server. This includes but is not limited to:
- Bedwars Championships (BWCS)
- Mid Season Tournaments
- All Stars Tournaments
- Any other games played in tournaments that utilize Ranked Bedwars' screenshare service
This does NOT include:
- Ranked matches (or any game that affects a player's ranked rating)
- Tournaments and events that are NOT officially hosted by Ranked Bedwars
- Casual Matches such as private games or the unrated queue
All other games are considered casual unless covered by another rule.
Screenshare Conduct
- Refusal or intentional delay may be considered SS refusal or stalling, which will result in a refusal ban being administered.
- You must cooperate fully during an SS. This includes following the Screensharer's instructions and not interfering with the screenshare process.
- Staff may record or take evidence during SS for documentation purposes.
- All SS logs and evidence are private and shared only with relevant staff. Leaking, tampering with, or falsifying SS content is a punishable offense.
Screenshare Rights
- The Right to Refuse
- The Right to Refuse Specific Tools
- The Right to Professionalism
- The Right to Request a Different Staff Member
- The Right to Fairness
- The Right to Leave if Delayed
- Rights for Players Under 18: If you are under 18, you have the right to
have a parent or guardian present for the entire process.
- This right cannot be used if: (a) you lied about your age, or (b) your guardian/parent refuses to aid or does not aid with your request within 30 minutes.
Reporting
If you witness rulebreaking or abuse, please report it through the appropriate channel:
- For standard rule violations, open a support ticket.
- If your concern involves a staff member, open a support ticket and request a Staff Manager.
False or bad-faith reports (e.g., framing others, spamming tickets) may result in a punishment or suspension from ticket creation.
Appeals
Gameplay and Communication Restrictions
If you believe your punishment was unjust due to misunderstanding or otherwise, you may submit an appeal through the ticket system. Appeals should include:
- A respectful explanation
- Any relevant evidence
- Acknowledgment of wrongdoing (if applicable)
Spamming tickets or being dishonest in your appeal may result in a denied or extended punishment.
Blacklists
For blacklists, you may ask a current user to submit an appeal on your behalf. The staff team may require extra time to process your appeal since it requires approval from an administrator.
